Be sure to check out their latest issue (F/W 2018) on all things Design - it’s a beautiful magazine packed with tons of inspiration.

ANNOUNCING | WORKSHOP in Baja, Mexico

Hey Exhausted Mama's and Tired Work-a-holics out there! Who couldn't use a week away from it all this Fall?!

I've made it an annual practice the past number of years to have at least one week away without kids, hubbies, work, etc. to do something just for me, but my goal is always also to leave that week feeling both rested and inspired. I've spent time painting poolside in Palm Springs, designing couture in cafes in Paris, and absorbing the architecture in London.

THIS trip couldn't be more perfect! A photography/design tour of the Baja (escape the onslaught of November rain? YES, please!), be guided and cared for, learn about photography and design, and perhaps indulge in the odd Margarita while you're at it ;) While I've traveled to other, more popular/touristy, areas of Mexico, but I'm thrilled to be exploring the design-rich Baja along with you all through the eyes of this tour!

The trip is organized by Tina Dhillon of Designers Collective - an Architect and Interior Designer who is passionate about bringing people and design together, as well as oft-published photography expert Tracey Ayton. If you don't follow these two ladies on Instagram, YOU SHOULD. They constantly inspire me. I'm excited to contribute some new recipes to the group snack times - served on Food Tables, of course ;) - as well as a sketching workshop for those guests interested!

It's been an absolute pleasure to get to know the lovely Kayla Fruchtman at Healing Waters International and the HER Initiative down in Colorado. Her passion for providing struggling communities with fresh, clean water is contagious - so much so, we decided to donate proceeds of every 100% Linen "Laguna" pillow sold!

Recently, Kayla and her gracious work were featured in a little blog by "The EVERYGIRL" (haha). Ok, they're huge. And - they mentioned us! Check it out, visit Healing Waters/the HER Initiative and help spread the love!

Empowering Women: How Healing Waters is Bringing Clean Water to People Around The World [Quote excerpt below]

You must have some favorite pieces in your office. Tell us some of them and why.

Oh man, there are so many! My very favorite is a painting that my mom actually did — it’s the iconic photo from The Her Initiative website where myself and three other influencers were doing a “water walk” for the first time in the Dominican Republic. A few other favorite pieces are pillows from Alison Kent HOME — a textile designer who has a line of pillows that give back to us.

akHOME - Launch at IDS Vancouver!

It's OFFICIAL!! akHOME is doing our premiere "artful elements" launch next week at Vancouver's Interior Design Show (IDS Vancouver)!! We are SO excited to show you all the things we've been working on over the past months.

This season, we love a home that remains light and white and airy for the dark, cold winter months - with accents of moody purples and, of course, black! It's all about bringing artwork off the walls and into every element of your home. We love the reaction when people visit our Studio and are suddenly surrounded by creative, artful, storied objects in every direction. Art, simply, touches the soul and we're happy to share it from our Studio to your HOME.

From painted watercolors translated into fabrics, pillows or wallpapers (YES! Wallpaper!!) to gorgeous calligraphy linework, there is a touch of art in every piece we create.

Not located in Vancouver? Follow along by signing up for VIP events, previews - and sales!

Stay Tuned!

EVENT | LBDGala 2017

I can't even begin to describe the honor of becoming a supporter of the Little Black Dress Gala, and their charitable base, Help Change My City. Little known fact - although I was in art classes for-ev-er as a young'un, my first conscious use of art on my own was to design fabrics + dresses! I still remember the thrill of my creations on the runways in high school, and all the grad dresses I designed that my Aunt had to painstakingly design patterns for (thanks, Aunty!). BUT, somehow I traded it in for a drafting scale and headed into a career in Architecture. It's only recently I've returned to fabric prints - and I'm LOVING it!!

For LBDGALA S/S '17 myself along with fabric collaborator, Interior Designer extraordinaire and all-around fashion icon Aleem Kassam donated some beautiful Gemma Black fabric to 6 incredible local Fashion Designers and they did not disappoint! Be sure to follow all of these talented designers, and stay tuned - we're gearing up for LBDGALA F/W17 as we speak!
